MV cable testing and diagnostics
Testing for new and modernised MV cable circuits before energisation and handover.
VLF withstand testing, insulation measurements and cable sheath integrity tests verify installation quality and provide complete technical acceptance records.
Service overview
We test new and modernised MV cable circuits before they are put into service. Voltage testing, insulation measurements and sheath integrity tests verify installation quality and provide the records required for technical acceptance.
When testing is required
Testing is carried out after construction or modernisation and before the circuit is energised. The method is selected according to cable type, rated voltage, accessories and acceptance criteria.
Test scope
- visual inspection of the cable circuit and accessories
- continuity checks for conductors and return paths
- conductor resistance and insulation resistance measurements
- VLF withstand testing
- DC cable sheath integrity testing and leakage-current measurement
VLF test procedure
The test section is identified, isolated and made safe before the test equipment is connected. The test sequence is recorded, after which the cable is discharged and earthed.
Cables covered
The test scope for an MV cable circuit is established from its rated voltage, cable construction, accessories and handover documentation requirements.
Test documentation
The report identifies the tested section, method, test sequence and results required for the technical acceptance records.
Test equipment
Equipment is selected for the test type, rated voltage and cable construction. Results are recorded in the final test report.
